i'm being featured!

today is a fantastic day!

i have been asked by one of my dearest friends to be part of her new adventure!
a couple of months ago, my friend, alethea, started a really smart and funny blog called
she writes about the wonderful gift of being a mother
(particularly those of us who work in the home)
and encourages all of us to follow our dreams.
i can say that she has been a wonderful inspiration to me personally
as i have been dreaming about and working on starting my own little business.
she is a priceless gem of a friend!

this week she is doing a series on "go get 'em girls".
she is featuring 5 ladies who had an idea for a business
and ran with it.
i am so honored that she asked me to start out the week.
please head over to her blog and check her out.
she has so many words of wisdom and funny insights to share with you.
you will not be disappointed!

if you are visiting here from i'm domestic...not dead!, welcome!
and please come back soon!

p.s. i am still working on getting my etsy shop up and running,
but if you'd like to talk with me about what i do or would like to place an order,
please email me at sewannadesigns (at) gmail (dot) com.
i love to do custom items!

halloween/fall goodies

as i mentioned in my introduction, i am an obsessive craft blog stalker.
i love it when i find a cute idea and it becomes my #1 mission until i've completed it.
here are some of my favorites that i couldn't resist trying this year and some i designed myself.
(these are all pictures of my crafts, but i've linked to the sites where I found the ideas so you can try them yourselves!)

super sweet but all the kids asked for more!

very fun activity to do with the kids!

boo t shirt
this is my LL (she's my youngest) and this is my design
i've made this shirt for my kids, friends and for some teachers at school
(keep it in mind for next halloween!)

(i am seriously in love with this! it is one of my favorite things i have made ever!)

fall treat bags (there are little candy bars taped inside)
my sweet friend Cathy taught me how to do these.
the kids in LL's class loved them!

pumpkin t shirt
(i designed this one specifically for my son's teacher at her request
and i think it turned out really cute!)

although christmas is fast approaching, maybe this will give you a little inspiration for the thanksgiving season!

gobble gobble!

allow me to introduce myself...

hi there! i'm joanna and welcome to my new blog and new business,
sew anna designs!

this is the beginning of a new venture for me.
i  love to sew.
i am an obsessive craft blog stalker.
i am a collector of beautiful fabrics. (seriously, like how some girls collect shoes or purses)
and now I am starting my own little business.

over the past few years, i have developed a sort of passion for sewing.
i learned how to sew only a few short years ago from a very talented lady in my family. ever since then, it has been a world of discovery and i can't get enough of it!

i have completely fallen in love with all types of sewing....
sewing with a machine, hand embroidery, quilting, and on and on.
i have made things from patterns and on the fly,
used tutorials from the web and come up with a few things on my own.
i just love the process of being inspired and then creating something beautiful or fun from that inspiration.

for the past couple of years, i have been dreaming about starting a business creating the things i love.
because i have had the immeasurable blessing of staying at home with my 3 kiddos,
i have just not felt like i've had the time to commit to pursuing that dream fully.
now that my kids are off to school this year (two in elementary school & one in preschool),
I have a little more time than I have had in the past 6 years.
so now is the time for a little dream chasing!

i will be offering original, creative appliqued t shirts for babies, kids, and even grown ups.
i am also working on a few other things to offer to you guys...
maybe even some accessories for you and your home.

on this blog, you will find a little about my life, and hopefully, a lot of fun things that will inspire you to create...

and maybe even some things you'd like to have. :)

thank you for joining me on this little creative journey of mine. enjoy!
